Not sure how big of a turkey to get for your family or guests? Butterball has a calculator on their website which lets you enter the number of guests (including children) and whether or not you want to have leftovers.
For example, I entered 3 adults and two children, plus leftovers. The result = 6 lbs.

The closest thing I’ve ever cooked that resembled a turkey was cornish game hens. My husband has always been responsible for cooking the Thanksgiving Bird, and he always cooks it in the smoker. I’ve always been gunshy about cooking turkeys because of the food poisoning factor.
