A Cost Efficient Alternative to Le Creuset

6-quart Lodge Dutch Oven

If you are looking for an alternative to LeCreuset cookware, check out what Lodge has to offer. This 6-quart dutch oven is made out of enameled cast iron and comes with a matching lid that helps seal in the heat and flavor of your food.

I checked out both brands and found a huge price difference between them. The 5.5 quart Le Creuset costs $175 (on sale) while the Lodge costs under $50. Judging by the descriptions I read, they are virtually the same type of pot.

Le Crueset 7.25 Quart French Oven

LeCrueset 7.25 Quart French Oven

The first time I ever saw a LeCrueset pot was during an outing to the discount outlet malls about a decade ago. I was tempted to buy one because they are very pretty and made out of durable cast iron. Once I saw the price, I walked away.

Ten years later, I’m looking at the hefty price and considering how long they’ll last, compared to the nonstick cookware I have in my cabinets. They’re virtually indestructible, cook well on a variety of stove tops and ovens, and I don’t have to worry about metal flakes breaking off into my food when I’m cooking.
