Cuisinart CEK-40 Electric Knife

Cuisinart CEK-40 Electric Knife

The Cuisinart Electric Knife comes with two blades: one for cutting bread and the other for slicing meat. Consumers had no problems when trying to slice bread. However, many of them experienced the problems when trying to slice large quantities or thick slices of meat. The knife would stop working after 10 to 20 minutes, although the motor kept running.

This was caused when a cheap Nylon gear in the main drive got stripped. A replacement gear, made out of stainless steel, will fix this problem. As far as I know, Cuisinart is not offering such a replacement. If you know a machinist who can make the custom part, you’ll be set. If not, count on throwing the knife away if you use it for anything other than bread or light meat slicing.
